Collected words from talks of Swami Tirtha

(from a lecture of Swami Tirtha, 08.05.2017 morning, Rila)

(continues from the previous Friday)

This is real life – when we can live according to our principles, when we can live according to our ideals, when we are very close to the original function of the soul. Then immediately certain results will come. I don’t know how you feel, but I feel like in a midst of a quantum leap. Only few hours we spent here and it feels like eternity. Just like we are permanently staying here and we perceive eternity in a few moments.

And then you feel so close to yourself – another mystic experience. I think this is a definite proof of a powerful spiritual association. From the symptoms you can understand what it is. Maybe you don’t see the thing itself, but you can see the consequences. And from the consequences you can judge the reason. It’s a kind of a half-blind state. We see only the consequences; then we might think, or understand, or hope about the reasons. The other side of this half-blind state is when you see the reason, when you are fully aware of the divine reality, but the consequences are not manifest yet. Just like Shrila Prabhupad, when he was sitting on a bench, practically penniless, with nobody around him. Then somebody was coming and sitting close to him on the bench, and he started to describe his grand mission. Nothing was there, but he saw the reason, he was fully aware of the source; the consequences were a question of time.

So, you can choose what type of blindness you want to have. When the consequences are very obvious and then slowly-slowly by some intellectual or logical process you have to come to the conclusion that there must be some reason for that. Or you quickly and firmly establish yourself in spiritual consciousness and then wait for the consequences.

First of all I have to express my gratitude to all of you who came and contributed to the success of our spiritual gathering. We have taken different methods of spiritual services. Rupa Goswami describes the affectionate relationships between devotees. Like intimate sharing – opening up the heart, the thoughts and receiving advice; offering prasadam and receiving prasadam; and also exchanging gifts. And I think hundreds and thousands of occasions this exchange has happened during this weekend. So we are very fortunate to have introduction into a real spiritual exchange.

We had our recollection of the ancient histories, which transfer an eternal message, so that it’s useful for us today. And the conclusions will stay with us. So it’s not only the knowledge, the vedanta, that we could enhance, but it’s also the siddhanta, the conclusion that we could improve. So, if we have to understand or judge which is more important – knowledge or a good conclusion – I think conclusion is better.

So, loving exchange and spiritual practices – this is our path. To appreciate the spiritual side in the human beings and to love the human side in our beloved Divine Couple.

I think we all experience losses of false concepts, apprehensions, some fears, some misunderstandings. But what more, I think we all experience gain. Life is like this – sometimes we lose, other times we gain. But with God within and road ahead you never lose.

We all need experience. We want to touch the divine experience. Go on like this! I tell you, this is just like eternity, beyond the limitations of time and space. So actually we are not on the Balkan Peninsula and not in the 21st century. We are in the center of the universe and we are in the eternal moment. And this we have to maintain.
